Observation notes: Rain had fallen heavily at White Sands National Park during the 2 days prior to my visit. There were sporadic flowers, mostly small forbs and small shrubs attracting a few western Pygmy blues throughout the Park. At one compact spot alongside the paved road between the entrance and the Dunes Life Nature Trail, horsetail milkweed, yellowspine thistle, globe mallow, and dark eyed yellow asters were blooming - each attracting a variety of butterflies, bees, wasps, and other bugs.
