Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Near San Miguelito Canyon. Sunny day in the 70’s F. p.s. Finally found the elusive SoCal Common Wood Nymph during the same trip. Large size, probably female, with yellow eyespots visible in flight. Of course, it flew into a dense poison oak thicket, and I couldn't get a pic! The probable native host plant nearby is the tall grass California Brome.
