Observation notes: When I took the pic, I thought it was a Monarch. Seems I got fooled at the time, but when I uploaded this to iNat in early 2025, I realized it was a Viceroy and not a Monarch. Still, my inner child butterfly nerd was and is happy about this to this day. From the last day of my trip to St. Louis, MO to find the Eurasian Tree Sparrow (one of my two favorite species of birds, alongside the Black-capped Chickadee).
