Observation notes: It was a warm morning, about 73°F. I was surprised to find this moth on my living room screen in the daytime. I took a few photos and sat down to listen to the birds. While I was sitting there, a male moth came out of one of the small doghouses on my porch. At first I thought it was one of those brown "may beetles" because it was flying like it was drunk...bouncing off of things. Then I noticed that it would disappear for a minute or so and come back and buzz around the porch a time or two. Each time he came back he would seem to get a little closer to the female on the screen. She never moved the entire time. The last time he came back, he flew straight to her and landed . He sort of snuggled up against her. I snapped a few shots and went back in. When I came back later they were obviously mating. They left late that evening around dark.
