Observation notes: At first thought was Melissa, but then noticed doesn't appear to be any indication of orange coloration or spotting on the upper wing.

Coordinator notes: Your observation of the missing red on the forewing is astute and your tentative ID is correct. Buckwheat Blue is the better common name (your photo shows the male on its hostplant)...It does not feed on "lupine"...the better name for Boisduval's Blue is the "Lupine Blue" because that is the only host for that species throughout its entire range. Acmon blues feed on many different legume hosts mostly, buckwheat is not one it uses. It is all kind of a confusing mess. Mike
