Observation notes: The moth was very still and did not move until I turned around, at which it flew away. The weather was warm and rather sunny, roughly 70-75 degrees fahrenheit (21-23 degrees Celsius). The bug was sitting on my porch, I suspect we saw it because we live near a forest in the Piedmont area.
