Observation notes: Large butterfly perching in the shade of a tree trunk while taking moisture and nutrients from a small pool in an arroyo bottom near Arroyo Trail within the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. The afternoon was warm, windy and under high cloud cover.
