Observation notes: Large butterfly perches on oak leaves, primarily, along La Cueva Trail in the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. It appeared to be protecting a territory and was curious about my presence and moved from site to site to watch me. The afternoon was warm, windy, and under an intermittently overcast sky.
