Observation notes: We’ve had a period of hotter weather. I posting this record because it advances the Mendocino County early record by three days. Several of these butterflies were seen. What’s the latest on the name? Is it still Brown Elfin or Western Brown Elfin?

Coordinator notes: It could go either way but with iroides, probably best to call it Western Brown Elfin, along the eastern Sierra Nevada the subspecies is calneva from extreme eastern Tulare, Inyo and Mono Counties-Ken Davenport
