Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sunny, 70 degrees, very windy. This butterfly was seen on an Easter Daisy (Townsendia hookeri). It spent most of it's time perched with wings folded...perhaps bracing against the whipping wind! The Easter Daisies were growing in gravel along the side of a road. There is a small lake nearby.

Coordinator notes: Looks like two different commas in your photos...the top and bottom looks the same but I think the second and one with wings folded are the same? I verified the Hoary comma (top and bottom) but I think the other may be the Dark Comma (Polygonia oreas)...maybe resubmit that one next week and I will study it a little more...if you have another photo or two, that might help too.
