Chain-dotted Geometer
Cingilia catenaria

Observation date: September 20, 2025
Submitted by: RyanLaRuffa
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Distinctive geometer, with chain-dotted pattern on wings and peach patches near head. I logged 9 individuals out of approximately 35-75 flying around a pine barrens + boggy habitat. A variety of woody shrubs and some full trees, including Tamarack, Black Spruce, White Spruce, and some of the biggest Red Pines I've ever seen. Paper Birch and aspen sp. also present. I've seen Northern Wild Raisin, Bog Cranberry, and Black Chokecherry here as well. I'm not sure what species this moth is resting on--perhaps a fern? I wish I looked more closely at it.
