Observation date: July 26, 2025
Submitted by: RyanLaRuffa
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found on beach property. Small moth I overlooked most of the day. I was unfamiliar with this species, as well as other related moths, but after I asked for help identifying it, I got the response, "This is Eoparargyractis pelvie (other sp can be ruled out due to range). Petrophilia species would show a larger white area near the thin postmedial line, and wouldnt really show that distinct median line." If the ID is correct, on inaturalist, it is the only observation in Michigan's lower peninsula, though I heard specimens were collected elsewhere. No other individuals seen alongside it. Looking to confirm its ID.

Coordinator notes: I, too, haven't heard of other sightings on the MI lower peninsula, so I don't know if it's resident (although I suspect it is). See the MPG page on this sp.; sightings are rather scattered. There's even one in Florida. https://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=4787
