Coordinator notes: Females can be difficult to nail down to a definitive species since both P. thoaros and P. cocyta can share characteristics. The easiest way to ID a female Phyciodes is to see them interacting with a true male of either species. Some P. cocyta females can have wide open orange patches on the HWs, making them a little more definitive. This individual has more of an equivocal wing pattern. -jmgesell
