Coordinator notes: Your ID is correct...looks like a male...and a very good late record of an individual from a rarely seen partial second flight. Maybe a lot of rain this summer in that helped promote one. Normally only flies in late spring. Host is Eriogonum (Buckwheat), usually yellow-flowering umbellatum but might use effusum (white flowers, late blooming) or another one. Caterpillars feed on leaves, not the flower heads. Mike
