Observation notes: Sometimes I see this species of butterfly looking very small, smaller than I expect. I was wondering if it was a new butterfly for me, but it wasn't. It was just much smaller than I expected. I don't think its length was more than 1 centimeter. I have been hoping to get a picture of this very small butterfly. Today it visited a lot of flowers and stayed for a long time on flowers conveniently close to me.
An online Montana Field Guide is more in line with the dimensions that I sometimes see here (1.1 to 1.4 cm). Maybe it is environmental. There has been very little rain here lately.
