Observation notes: We had been given the location on the main road at Alligator NWR but there were no road signs in this swamp along Pamlico Sound. There were hardwoods & it's host plant giant cane. We probably saw 3-5 individuals blowing in the wind while nectaring. (thank goodness for the wind as the mosquitos were bad the area was flooded from hurricane Erin but not the road. We were told there were timber rattlers & bears as well)
