Coordinator notes: A female Northwestern Fritillary (better name is the Red-Disc Fritillary)...eastern slope female atlantis (subspecies sorocko which mean "southern Rocky Mountains populations") have a lighter (to yellow) color cast to the wing color, less heavy black markings and less basal dark scale suffusion. The underside of frits are always more diagnostic and if you could get a photo of it you would likely see unsilvered disc-spots on the hindwings (or only lightly silvered ones at best or those to the edge of the hindwings (characteristic of the nominate subspecies hesperis). Nice photo of the upperside. Mike
