Woodland Skipper
Ochlodes sylvanoides

Observation date: August 15, 2025
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I feel like the upperside markings look more like Woodland (a few different individuals in the pics), but the last photo showing the underside might be a Tawny-edged. These were pretty abundant along the trail.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Your ID is correct...a male. This skipper is well larger and has more extensive orange on the upper wings than the Tawny-edged...and the underside (which you finally got a good photo of) is distinct with those large though pale spots on the hindwings...not small light ones as the Tawny presents.
