Harris' Three Spot
Harrisimemna trisignata

Observation date: August 15, 2025
Date notes: Friday, August 15th at around 9:15 a.m,
Submitted by: Melinda Bell
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: While walking by a Fringe tree (Chionanthus virginicus) near Lick creek, I spotted a Harris Three Spot caterpillar (Harrisimemna trisignata). I watched as it shook itself back and forth as a defense when I touched the leaf. It is 81° but feels like it is in the 90° range. Humidity is also 81%. Very calm day with just a little breeze blowing. I added the photo of a Harris Three Spot I had come to my sheet during National Moth week, July 20th, 2025.
