Coordinator notes: Purplish Fritillaries (also more commonly known as the Arctic Fritillary - now Boloria chariclea), typically have pretty distinct triangles along the submarginal HW. This individual's markings tend to blend into the darker band, and lacks a triangular shape altogether as they approach the inner angle of the HW. This is more classic for the much more common Silver-bordered Fritillary (note - the actual scientific name is now Boloria myrina - BAMONA has to update their database). A ventral view would be needed to confirm either species...but I know how tough (and frustrating) that can be to get! -Jeff Gesell
