Observation notes: Individual seen flying and perching on chaparral brush along with other Blues. In an otherwise somewhat barren area of eastern Poway, this spot just below Lake Ramona dam seemed more moist and inviting. Steep hillsides made viewing anything difficult. Weather mild, very little breeze, largely clear, maybe 75 degrees.
Note the unusual orange markings on the dorsal forewings, continuing the pattern on the hindwing. It’s very clearly present in this female. Pretty sharp and veiny dorsal coloration, so it’s possibly a monticola.
