Observation notes: Resting on Hydrangia next to back yard "pollinator" garden. Temps in the high 80s. Dry weather. Have never seen one in 20 years, and I spend time watching for pollinators. I also work to provide as much pollinator habitat as I can, including natural nesting and hybernating sites in addition to host plants and food sources. See swallowtails, skippers and cabbage moths routinely. Rarely see other species that I can identify. I do have lots of night blooming plants for night flyers, but rarely have the opportunity to watch at night.
