Observation notes: I found a group of about 12-15 Regal Fritillaries at the Konza Prairie Nature Trail. The day was cooler than usual as strong storms rolled through the day before. I think the highs were forecast in the low to mid 80s. I got to the top of the hill, near the radio tower at about 10 am. I found my first Regal Fritillary on scat on the trail. The others appeared as I walked further on the trail. As far as I could tell, they were all males, and all looked to be very fresh. What a fantastic encounter.

Coordinator notes: There's always something exciting when finding a colony of S. idalia. Yes females are pretty scarce usually. Thanks! JAMES STEEN
