Evans' Firetip
Pyrrhopyge evansi

Observation date: June 05, 2025
Submitted by: Charlie Doggett
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: In my garden, Atenas, Alajuela, Costa Rica
Status: Unknown
Verified by: Charlie Doggett
Verified date: June 18, 2026
Coordinator notes: An unidentified coordinator marked this misidentified and said "This is Pyrrhopyge evansi. The white band on the ventral HW does rule out "zenodorus" - The similar "thericles" has no break in the white patches like Evans's." NOT IN BAMONA & I WILL REQUEST --- MY EARLIER NOTE: This could also be Pyrrhopyge crida, because of the white band on one side of the wings.
