Observation notes: Birding with Michael Plauche, we parked by a cow farm and very large field near Island Ford. I noticed an unusual white butterfly near us, and recognized it as this species (from growing up with them in L.A. long ago). It settled and we got good photos. Female. Apparently there are very few records of this species in this county (or WNC more broadly).
