Purplish Copper
Lycaena helloides

Observation date: June 04, 2025
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This looks more like a forest to me but I know you i.d.'d a female ruddy around this timeframe last year in an area pretty close by, so I'm not sure.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Actually this is the Mountain Copper (Lycaena florus or dorcas florus) but where you are it could be a mix between the lower elevation type (helloides-castro)...the group is still a mess but genetics is helping to sort it out (or make it more confusing?). Mike
