Observation notes: This is the 1st margined white observed on our Horseshoe Ranch Wildlife Area (now part of Cascade Siskiyou National Monument) transect counts which have been completed April through Sept since 2019. It was in a muddy section of the trail not far from Copco Rd. This has been an unusually wet year. Also, the dams on the Klamath River in the area were removed last year. Irongate Reservoir has been replaced by the river.

Coordinator notes: The prevailing opinion of what subspecies of marginalis occurs in that area is castoria, P. marginalis is very common in the Shasta Lake and McCloud Reservoir areas in Siskiyou and Shasta Counties and it seems I saw them along the Klamath River up Ash Creek on May 1 2022.. Further north they become the nominotypical subspecies....Ken Davenport
