Observation notes: 25+ were observed in dry open area along Tahoe Rim trail. Basking and feeding on late-season yellow flowering plants.

Coordinator notes: I know both Speyeria egleis and Speyeria mormonia can fly into September and the ventral photo looks like egleis to me, but the uppersides of female egleis and mormonia can be indistinguishabe in some cases. Based on the underside markings and this being the same individual, I am going with egleis. Both can go into early October in my area.-Ken Davenport
