Scudder's Sulphur
Colias scudderi

Observation date: July 09, 2024
Submitted by: Joshua C
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: After sifting through many Queen Alexandra's, I finally found a fresh Scudder's Sulphur nectaring on Pyrrocoma north of Hopewell Lake. A very cool final lifer for my trip.

Coordinator notes: Hopewell is about the most accessible place to see this species. congrats on a terrifically successful trip! Joshua, it has been brought to my attention (and I agree) that the stated observation date of March 9 is impossible for this species because habitat would be under snow. Certainly no yellow composites in bloom, such as the one in your images. Thus, either I misidentified it (quite possible) or we have an incorrect observation date. Can you please go back through your notes and check that date? you can reply to me directly at sjcary1@outlook.com. thanks!
