Observation notes: Checkered or Western? I found this nectaring on Hymenoxys brandegeei near a scree field above treeline. The markings seem like a better match for Checkered, but the habitat is right for Western and I'm not familiar enough with that species to tell them apart.

Coordinator notes: alas, habitat for checkered is "everywhere." but western also should be there, so it's always good to photograph a lot of individuals. this is a female, as I'm sure you are aware.
