Coordinator notes: Obviously the top pic is male, bottom one female. This must be subspecies Euphdryas anicia maria. Although, it also looks a bit like subspecies Euphdryas anicia windii which occurs only in WY. Checkerspots can be so variable within their own species & subspecies. The locale is somewhat more toward WY on NE side of the Wasatch to Bear River Mountain ranges. Maybe perhaps an intergrading into E. a. windii? Sorry it took me a little while to decide how to identify, still slightly baffles me on the male. Keep those Utah sightings coming! Thanks, JAMES STEEN
