Observation notes: This butterfly was feeding from the flowers in the cone of a Purple Cone Flower (Echinacea purpurea). It appears to have displaced a Horace's Dustywing, which was feeding in the same place just moments before. Some moments later, there was a male Sachem that briefly flew about the female and they chased each other briefly in circular flight. I got a good look at each when they landed in close proximity to each other on separate Purple Coneflower cones. The male abruptly flew away before I could get a picture of it. I was hoping it would circle back and land again, but it had flown to somewhere else.
