On June 15, 2024, this butterfly came flitting about various flowers in the backyard garden of our house (initially spotted among some common milkweeds). It eventually settled in among a pair of lavender plants, which gave me a chance to take some pictures. At the time (~10:30 AM EDT), our weather was partly cloudy with a light breeze of about 4 mph from the NNW. The temperature was 78°F and rising, the dew point was 52°F and dropping, the humidity was 56% and dropping, and the air pressure was steady at 28.75 inches.
I am pretty sure this is a Painted Lady Butterfly (Vanessa cardui).
