Observation notes: I've never seen a butterfly this large or of this type. It was stunning. It never fully stopped for a photo. When it landed its wings were fluttering continuously. It has been extremely hot here, but this was in the morning, so probably around 85 degrees F. It was flying around the grass, but there are lots of new plants around. I also have video of the butterfly.
