  Sighting 1363945

False Wainscot
Leucania pseudargyria

Observation date: July 15, 2023
Submitted by: dawittrock2231
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Near a floodlight on my deck. Looked at this one for a while. I have had some very well-marked L. Phyllophora, I think this is a faded one. Also looked at Cerastis tenebrifera, but think orbicular spot is wrong. See what you think. Aaron Hunt says sighting 1362619 is a Neodactria, which I think makes sense. BG says N. luteolellus can be yellow and there is a lot of variability in markings, so possibly it.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: The color may have something to do with the type of lighting used as I note that couple of the moths on iNat and BG also have this purplish tinge. By any chance are you using a UV light?
