Two-spotted Skipper
Euphyes bimacula

Observation date: July 13, 2023
Submitted by: jmgesell
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Although this could simply be another female Dun, I believe it is actually a female Two-spotted Skipper. It was found in a marsh/sedge habitat with Black Dash, Mulberry Wing, and Dion Skippers. In the first photo, the anal margin of the HW is mostly broken off. However, near the basal region where it remains intact I think you can see the classic white highlight not seen in the Dun. You can also see this highlight faintly on the second photo (although less visible since the individual is angled away). The wings are a bit darker than expected, but still had an orangish-brown tint. And although tattered and faded, the ventral HW veins do appear ever-so-slightly highlighted. The body/palps appear contrasted white as expected. Thanks for your input!
