Coordinator notes: Females of either the Western White or Checkered White can be difficult to identify correctly. This female has rather faded looking dark markings on the wings (to brownish) and also you can see there is a very distinct open white space in the forewing band. These characteristically are traits of the Checkered White. The wing markings are blacker on the Western White and the band is usually or almost always complete so the outer apical area on the forewings close-in a complete or nearly complete series of white spots.
