Observation notes: I found this adorable creature while tending to my flower garden, which is beneath an ash tree in my backyard. As I started pulling up a clump of weeds, I felt something soft and furry and thought it was a mouse at first! This guy was about 5 inches from end to end. I didn't get to see its wingspan because it never opened them and I didn't want to harass it more than I had already. After I took a few photos, I carefully relocated it to a nearby garden.
