Mimosa Skipper
Cogia calchas

Observation date: February 17, 2023
Submitted by: ezeemonee
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: At dry forest near lake. Sunny day in the 80’s F. Large size for a grass skipper.
Status: Resident
Verified by: Paul Prappas
Verified date: May 24, 2023
Coordinator notes: This looks more like the genus "Cogia", banding on HW and the distinctive curve of the FW, edged in gold. Matches up well for Mimosa Skipper. Though the butterfly is quite worn and faded, there seems to be a light patch at the FW tip, which is a key feature for a fresh Mimosa.
Checklist region(s): El Salvador, Santa Ana
