Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Resting on Bahiopsis triangularis (Asteraceae); several times it was difficult to locate it in the bush when it moved around because it was well-camouflaged within the leaves; clear, sunny day; desert scrub with numerous herbs and shrubs in bloom, including Encelia, Bahiopsis, Nicolletia, Coreocarpus and Larrea.

Coordinator notes: According to the Baja California book, Libytheana carinenta is the Snout Butterfly there. The top view is confusing as it seems to look like a Texan Crescent or another Anthanassa but none of those are mentioned in the Baja California book by Brown, Real and Faulkner in 1992. Perhaps species have been added since. The 2nd photo is clearly L. carinenta-Ken Davenport
