Orange Sulphur
Colias eurytheme

Observation date: August 08, 2017
Submitted by: Todd Boland
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: None.
Status: Resident
Verified by: jmgesell
Verified date: February 14, 2023
Coordinator notes: Ventral submarginal spot rows essentially rule out C. interior and C. pelidne; overall golden coloration (when compared to your brighter "lemon" C. philodice submission), as well as very slight orangish tinge to the ventral FW favors C. eurytheme over C. philodice. This individual is a female, with the yellow spotting seen within the dorsal black marginal FW band. All Newfoundland Colias species exhibit pink lining of their wings and body, which may wear with time in some individuals, however is not a reliable way to ID C.interior. -jmgesell
