Observation notes: I could use some help with these. I go back and forth every spring. These fly commonly on ridges and hilltops in native grasslands when the Easter Daisies are blooming (early April). Two different individuals photographed here, but in the same place and very similar in appearance.

Coordinator notes: The spring form (vernalis) of the common Checkered White...very unusual to see into northern Colorado - and not very common in spring in the southern portion of the eastern slope either! You usually get P. occidentalis spring form calyce (which is also at high altitude in July-August). Very good record! Mike
