Observation notes: This photo was taken in the gardens near the statue of John Huston on the Isla Cuale in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. The sky was clear, the temperature was 26 C. This butterfly obligingly landed on leaf litter in the gardens as I walked by on my way to the municipal market and remained still long enough for me to take several photos.
