Yellow-dotted Alpine
Erebia pawlowskii

Observation date: August 10, 2022
Submitted by: Christian.Nunes
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Many found in a wet swale at the edge of tree-line. Very difficult to photograph as they'd flush from the tall sedges, fly 20-30m off then dive back down into the sedges or willows.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Even-year flying species...you might rarely find one in the odd year (maybe you submitted one a year or two ago?). There is one odd-year flying population in the San Juan Mts. but I no of none in the high Front Range-Boulder-Gilpin Cos. The correct species name might actually be stubbendorffii with pawlowskii a synonym (haven't seen genetics on that yet). Mike
