Phoebis agarithe

Observation date: December 04, 2022
Submitted by: Seth Mueller
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Many of these spotted on a drive in Palm Springs. Also Cloudless sulphurs seen around. Temp was 70 degrees.
Status: Resident

Verified date: December 05, 2022
Coordinator notes: This is subspecies fisheri, now a resident in California as far north as Ventura County. They colonized the Palm Springs area by about 2008. DNA wise, Arizona populations are also subspecies fisheri, not the nominate subspecies as previously thought. I sent in specimens from San Clemente and Tucson to be checked genomically---Ken Davenport
