Coordinator notes: This does not match the suggested Pale Owl in several ways (1) Never seen one this light a color all over, (2) Not almond spots which Caligo telimonius has and (3) Though the forward area is pale (as is the whole butterfly), those patterns are not what I've seen in other Pale Owl Butterflies and there is not a distinctive pale clear area in front. With its overall pale color it is closer to the Caligo oedipus, but that one has one almond spot and a more distinctive long cured dark mark than this one which does have a dark mark but not the same. Thus I am going to mark it "Cannot Identify" and hope that someone knows more about these owls! :-) Charlie, I've been looking into this bug, and I'm quite sure it's Caligo oileus scamander (Panamanian ssp). - PP
