Coordinator notes: In a wet spring, one can find abundant Anthocharis cethura morrisoni in that National Monument. A group at the 2009 Pacific Slope meeting were given 1 day collecting privileges which included John and Tom Emmel, Sterling Mattoon, myself and many other well known lepidopterists. Caliente Peak was the most productive locality. We of course were accompanied by Peter Jump who works for the Park. All the way from New Mexico to the Carrizo Plain? Wow!...Ken Davenport Added Note: There is a very distinctive Plebejus (Icaricia) monticola that should occur in the Carizzo Plains down and Hwy. 58 down the Syncline Hill to Santa Margarita. Monticola is now no longer a lupini though in that group. Those in that area have bolder black spotting below.
