Observation notes: The caterpillar was crawling in the grass. It was sunny and the air was calm. The elevation here is 7300 feet. The yard contains a mixture of native and ornamental plants and trees and garden vegetables. The nearest tree is a Siberian elm but there are also fruit trees and gamble oak.
