Westwood's Satyr
Euptychia westwoodi

Observation date: August 21, 2022
Submitted by: Paul Prappas
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Telling Jesia and Westwood's apart is tough. In the field it is smaller than Westwood's, and witha whiter ground color. There are some differences on the dorsal side. One feature that seems consistent is that the HW band closest to the body is thicker than on Westwood's. The contrast in thickness on Westwood's is much more dramatic. Westwood's inner band is very thin in comparison to the other ventral bands. On Jesia this is less noticeable.
