Great Spangled Fritillary
Speyeria cybele

Observation date: August 26, 2022
Date notes: Not sure of the time. Was going to estimate 2:30, but I couldn't get the field to accept it. It just kept putting in 2:02 automatically. That time is fine.

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: In the field by my house. It was larger than most Fritillaries I've seen. I'd guess 3.5". And darker. Wasn't sure which, between several Fritillaries I looked up, and didn't see any with as dark an area as this one had, so, thought I'd ask. Was cloudy with thunder rumbling before a rain. It was perched down in the grass. Question - on these two photos I resized them to be suitable for purposes such as e-mail. Do you prefer the original, larger file size, or does it matter?
